Seven Sharp’s Hilary Barry shot the footage from a plane during a night of wild weather.

Television presenter Hilary Barry has had a crack at storm chasing photography, capturing an electrical storm over Auckland last night.

The Seven Sharp host filmed the sky being illuminated by lightning from a plane while landing at Auckland Airport.

Auckland was hit by a fierce storm last night causing damage across the city.  NIWA reported more than 700 lightning strikes in just one hour.
