All Blacks captain Kieran Read is reportedly close to agreeing terms to leave New Zealand Rugby, with French newspaper L'Equipe saying that the number eight will join Racing 92 after next year's World Cup.

Read, 33, has previously indicated he will leave New Zealand after next year's tournament in Japan, with L'Equipe now reporting that the All Blacks captain will ink a seven-month deal worth around $2 million a season.

At the conclusion of next year's tournament, Read will be 34, having played his third World Cup with at least two victories in 2011 and 2015.

He will have also played almost 50 Tests as an All Blacks captain, won Super Rugby championships with the Crusaders, been named World Player of the Year (2013) and played against the British and Irish Lions - leaving not much if anything to cross off in an illustrious New Zealand Rugby career.
