Duco Events boss David Higgins is labelling British heavyweight Dillian Whyte as afraid of a rematch with his fighter, Kiwi Joseph Parker.

With Whyte having released a shortlist of fighters he would like to square off against in the ring next, a rematch with Parker, who he defeated in July via unanimous decision, was nowhere to be seen.

Speaking to Sky Sports UK, Higgins accused Whyte and his promoters - Eddie Hearn's Matchroom Boxing - of being afraid of a rematch with Parker.

"It's interesting that he didn't mention Joseph Parker's name. To me it says that they are running the other way, knowing that without officiating errors, Parker would have overcome and beaten him," he began.

"To me that's an admission that he's scared of Joseph Parker. Dillian Whyte knows there's unfinished business with Joseph Parker. Joseph Parker knows there's unfinished business with Dillian Whyte. Every boxing fan in the world knows there's unfinished business.

"It's a public challenge to Dillian Whyte to admit that an error by British officials benefited him, and that he did not win decisively."

Whyte is reportedly in talks with agreeing for a rematch with compatriot Dereck Chisora on December 23 NZT, while Parker will return to the ring against Mexican American Alexander Flores on December 15 in Christchurch.
