Watch: Plane journey comes to fiery end as engine bursts into flames on tarmac

November 9, 2017

A Hawaiian Airlines plane journey has come to a fiery end after an engine burst into flames as the aircraft was being taxied on the tarmac at Seattle Airport.

Passengers waiting to board planes at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport recorded the incident yesterday.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) stated to CBS News the plane flight travelling from Paine Field, Washington to SeaTac Washington.

The plane was being returned to the airport by airline staff and didn't have any passengers on board.

Hawaiian Airlines said the plane "experienced a left engine issue on final approach."

"A left engine fire reported upon landing was extinguished by the aircraft fire extinguishing system and local fire officials," the aircraft company said.

However, the FAA said the plane "experienced a right engine flyer fire upon landing. The fire had already been extinguished by the time Fire crews arrived at the aircraft."
