Magnitude 5.3 earthquake hits Italy's Adriatic coast

A large 5.3 magnitude earthquake has struck Italy.

The quake struck at a depth of 12km and was centred 5km south east of Palata on the the Adriatic coast, according to U.S Geological survey.

The are no immediate reports of damage.
