Two pilots coming into land at Los Angles Airport reported seeing a man flying with a jetpack nearly 1000 metres in the air.
The incident occurred on Monday.
Audio released of a pilot's exchange with the control tower has the pilot saying the man was estimated to be little under 300m off the plane's left-hand side, and at a similar altitude.
The incident has been reported to police.
