Blues coach Leon MacDonald has praised former All Blacks and new Blues recruit Ma'a Nonu for passing on his knowledge to the younger players in the Auckland Super Rugby franchise.
Speaking to media today during training in Auckland, MacDonald said his former All Blacks teammate Nonu has been a great mentor for the younger players.
"He's come back with a really selfless attitude around contributing to this team, it's been brilliant for us," said MacDonald.
"He's rubbing shoulders with young guys, he’s doing a lot of skill work. He takes it upon himself to sit down with the guys and give feedback."
MacDonald says the 103-Test All Black, who previously played for the Blues from 2012 to 2014, is eager to get advice from the coaching staff to improve his game.
"He's desperate for feedback from the coaching group, he wants to grow his own game.
"I think that at the moment he's just taking it day by day, week by week adjusting back to rugby in New Zealand.
"Rugby is a little bit different here than in France and I think he is enjoying that."
MacDonald says Nonu has been a big positive influence to the team since coming into the Blues environment.
"I think if you spoke to anyone, there is no signs that he is in his 30s at all, he's running around like a teenager."
