Perenara back in All Blacks as team named for Bledisloe II

The All Blacks have named their team for this weekend's second Bledisloe Cup Test with veteran halfback TJ Perenara making his return.

Coach Ian Foster has made minimal changes to the squad from last week that fended off a late Wallabies comeback attempt to win 33-25 in Auckland with the same eight forwards starting from last week's contest.

The only changes to the forwards comes on the bench with Samisoni Taukei'aho taking Dane Coles' place as reserve hooker while Scott Barrett returns as a reserve lock.

In the backs, Rieko Ioane moves to centre, replacing Anton Lienert-Brown, who took a knock to his knee on the weekend.

Ioane's shift sees Sevu Reece moves to the left wing and Will Jordan comes in on the right wing.

The only other change to the matchday 23 sees Perenara return as halfback reserve, having not donned the black jersey since last November after taking a short-term contract in Japan earlier this year.

Foster expects competition to heat up in the halfbacks with Perenara back in the squad.

All Blacks Head Coach Ian Foster said the team is aiming to improve on last week's performance.

“It’s been a very ‘forward looking’ week," Foster said.

"We were delighted with the result last weekend and obviously had some things that we had to work on this week so that has kept us focussed."

Foster said there was huge motivation amongst the team ahead of this weekend.

“We know that Australia will be disappointed with the result and will lift. It’s a do or die game for them.

“But the Bledisloe Cup means a lot to us. It’s an historic trophy and it’s easy for people to take it for granted based on results in recent years, but throughout history it has been a hard Cup to win, so it’s hugely important.”

This weekend's second Test is also at Eden Park.
