All Blacks rookie Sevu Reece preparing for first home Test with sausage sizzle

August 16, 2019

The young winger met fans in Auckland ahead of tomorrow night's Bledisloe Cup decider at Eden Park.

Rookie All Blacks winger Sevu Reece got in some unorthodox preparation for his first Test start on home soil, cooking fans a sausage sizzle in Auckland this morning.

Having made his Test debut against Argentina in Buenos Aires earlier this year, Reece will win his second All Blacks cap tomorrow night, starting on the right wing in place of Ben Smith against the Wallabies at Eden Park.

Speaking to 1 NEWS at this morning's fan event, Reece says that meeting and greeting fans helps him relax ahead of arguably the biggest game of his short career.

"It's pretty cool to be out here connecting with the community," he said.

"It's really good to see them, I'm guessing most of the people here are going to be there tomorrow night.

"It actually does help us relax, not focus on the game too much. We've got training this afternoon, we've got this first half of the morning to relax and make sausages."

Reece and the All Blacks face the Wallabies at Eden Park tomorrow night, with the winner getting to lift the Bledisloe Cup.
