The All Blacks Sevens have won their opening game of the Sydney Sevens, battling to a 27-14 win over Wales early on the first day.

NZ only led 10-7 at halftime at Spotless Stadium, with a Tone Ng Shiu try giving them the lead just before the break.

Kurt Baker scored after halftime but a sensational try to Ben Roach with just under three minutes remaining made the score 15-14.

The All Blacks Sevens would hit straight back through Regan Ware, who finished off a nice passage of play.

A try in injury time to Sione Molia led to a final score that flattered the All Blacks Sevens.

NZ face Spain this afternoon and Scotland tonight to complete their pool C matches.
