'Finally, I'm in Australia' - World's second fastest man Yohan Blake arrives for Commonwealth Games

March 18, 2018

Blake is the second fastest man on the planet behind Usain Bolt.

Jamaican sprinter Yohan Blake has touched down at Brisbane International Airport this morning, as star international athletes have started to arrive in the Gold Coast for the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Blake, who is the second fastest man ever over 100 metres, is looking to win his first Commonwealth Games medal on the Gold Coast, after missing the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games due to injury.

"I don't have a Commonwealth medal and that's something I have to have in my cabinet when I'm back home relaxing," Blake said on arrival at Brisbane Airport.

The Jamaican says he has enjoyed watching cricket from Australia for years and he is glad to finally be in the country.

TVNZ will be carrying coverage of the Commonwealth Games when it kicks off from April 4 to 15.
