Mount Smart to be packed to the rafters with sellout crowd for Mannering's 300th Warriors game

August 29, 2018

Adam Blair said there is about 1000 tickets left for possibly their last home game at Mount Smart in 2018.

Simon Mannering's 300th game for the Warriors is officially sold out.

It will be the second time this season Mount Smart Stadium has been packed to the rafters with the Warriors hosting the Raiders Friday night for Mannering's milestone game while also fighting for a home playoff game.

The club announced the final tickets, which had been put on sale for as cheap as $5 this week by the organisation, were bought early this afternoon.

"Sales went crazy when the offer kicked off at midday yesterday. We had a phenomenal response with almost 10,000 tickets sold in a day," said Warriors CEO Cameron George.

“It ensures we’ll have a terrific atmosphere at the ground to celebrate what our team has done this season and to also honour Simon in the best way possible."

Warriors forward Adam Blair said it was great there would be 25,600 voices supporting them tomorrow night and celebrating Mannering's achievement.

The Warriors great will notch his 300th appearance on Friday.

"It will be great to be able to fill it up, he (Mannering) has been a long servant for this club and a real icon in New Zealand rugby league I think.

"For them (fans) to come to show their support for everything he has done for this club, it will be nice to fill it up."

The 32-year-old NRL star believes his side will put everything into Friday's match, with the New Zealand club still a chance to get a play-off home game pending other results.

"First and foremost, obviously we respect that it is Simon's 300th (NRL match) but then again, we have a game plan and we have got to stick to that.

The veteran still has fond memories of his 2005 debut alongside other club legends.

"Do the right thing by our team about making sure we get the job done, obviously it's the Raiders' last game and they'll be here to play some footy.

The Raiders sit in 10th spot on the ladder and have no chance at making the NRL play-offs.

"We don't want them to play footy so we have got to put them in a grind and hopefully they don't want to be there.

"We want to get a win, not only for us for momentum going into the finals, but for Simon as well."

The Warriors are guaranteed a spot in the play-offs and are eighth on the NRL ladder.

They are on 30 points with three other NRL teams, but linger at the bottom of the top eight because of points differential.
