Kiwis treating England series as next step towards return to international dominance

October 23, 2018

Coach Michael Maguire says his team has only shown glimpses of their talent so far.

The Kiwis are hoping to take another stride to returning to their former glory with the upcoming three-Test series against England.

Coach Michael Maguire told media ahead of the first Test in Hull on Sunday morning NZT that while he acknowledged the historic 26-24 win over the Kangaroos last week, there's still a long road ahead.

"This is obviously an important next step for us - we've been able to put a decent performance together," he said."

"[But] every Test is an important one for us and that's obviously what we want to build as a team."

Maguire said he was learning how much pride players have donning the black jersey but feels he can do more.

"You can never take playing for your country for granted and that's something I want to instill in these players."
