'It'll be a dream come true' - Te Maire Martin relishing playing for Kiwis alongside Shaun Johnson

October 17, 2017

Martin will most likely play at five-eighth in the tournament later this month.

Kiwis five-eighth Te Maire Martin has spoken about the possibility of starting alongside Shaun Johnson for his country in the Rugby League World Cup later this month.

With Thomas Leuluai yesterday  saying that he'll likely play at hooker during the tournament, Martin along with Kodi Nikorima loom as the two likely candidates to partner Johnson in the halves, with the Cowboys stand-off the only specialist in the position.

Speaking to media today, Martin said that the thought of starting in the number six jersey for his country was a special one.

"It'd be a dream come true," he said.

"For that to happen, I'd absolutely love it."

"I know Kiddy (coach David Kidwell) will put the best team out there, if that's with me in it then I'd love that."
