Ryan Fox has had to cut his New Zealand holiday short thanks to a late invitation to a prestigious golf event in Mexico.
Fox is flying to Naucalpan after gaining a spot in the World Golf Championships field as an alternate, following the withdrawal of Andrew Putnam.
The WGC-Mexico Championship has a NZ$14.5 million prize pool and is played at Club de Golf Chapultepec.
Fox is coming off the biggest win of his career after claiming his first European Tour title at the World Super 6 in Perth on Sunday night NZT, picking up a NZ$268,000 paycheck after he thrashed Spaniard Adrian Otaegui in the match play decider.
With the win, Fox moved to 66th in the world rankings.
He is due to play in the 100th NZ Open next week before getting married to fiance Anneke the following week.
The WGC-Mexico Championship kicks off on Friday morning, NZT.
