With football's January transfer window deadline coming this Thursday, the Wellington Phoenix could be forced to dip into the market in order to meet minimum squad registration requirements.

Having released the Australian duo of Mitch Nicholls and Reuben Way earlier this month, and only adding striker Cillian Sheridan, another signing will be needed to see the Phoenix meet the 20-man squad minimum to continue their remarkable A-League campaign.

Speaking to media yesterday, though, coach Mark Rudan says that the club are in talks to bring more players into the squad before Thursday.

"We're talking to two players and we're hoping in the next 24 to 48 hours to have them nailed down," Rudan said.
