'Game-saving' goalkeeper leads the way as Phoenix dominate A-League 'team of the week'

Wellington Phoenix goalkeeper Filip Kurto's stunning display in net during his side's 1-0 win over Melbourne City has seen him, as well as three other teammates, included in the A-League's team of the week for the recently completed round 16.

Polish stopper Kurto produced an immense display between the sticks for the Phoenix, making six saves in the second half alone to seal all three points for his side, as they bounced back from defeat against Sydney.

"Kurto was called upon to make a series of game-saving blocks as Melbourne City came to life in the second stanza," the A-League website said.

"This was a clean sheet which Kurto can take much of the praise for."

Elsewhere in defence, centre back Andrew Durante and left back Liberato Cacace were also both given the nod, with the 18-year old full back in particular shining at both ends of the pitch, with six tackles as well as assisting the only goal of the game for teammate David Williams.

The Phoenix's final player in the XI came in the form of teenage sensation Sarpreet Singh, who himself is earning rave reviews on both sides of the Tasman, this week forced to highlight his defensive game.

However, while the Phoenix may boast more players in the team of the week than any other side in the A-League, their next opponents, Perth Glory, are also represented, with midfielder Neil Kilkenny and forward Diego Castro given the nod.

The Phoenix face Perth on Sunday.
