Watch: See the new pink Test cricket ball up close before today’s day/night match

March 22, 2018

New Zealand and England will have a pink Kookaburra ball at their disposal starting tonight.

When the Black Caps and England take to the field for the start of New Zealand's first ever day/night Test match this afternoon, the pink ball used by the teams will differ vastly to the one seen in Adelaide in the Black Caps' last day-nighter  2015.

Ball manufacturer Kookaburra has gone to extensive lengths to improve the quality of the ball.

"The main change from Adelaide 2015, is that the seam colour has changed," Kookaburra's head of communications Shannon Gill told 1 NEWS.

"In 2015, we had a green and white seam on the ball, the feedback from players was that they couldn't pick up the seam as well."

"We went to a black seam on the pink ball, and that has been a big improvement as far as the players are concerned."
