Superstar West Indian batsman Chris Gayle has touched down in Auckland today as he prepares for his side's three match ODI series against the Black Caps next week.
Gayle, 38, blasted a record 146 off 69 balls to lead his Rangpur Riders team to victory in the Bangladesh Premier League final against the Dhaka Dynamites on Tuesday.
The Jamaican star hopes to continue that hot form for his struggling Windies team against New Zealand.
"Well to get two centuries, you can tell that you are in decent form. I'm happy with my performance so far," he told 1 NEWS' Stephen Stuart.
"This is a new condition now, I haven't been here in a long time."
He last played in this country in the World Cup quarter-final against New Zealand in Wellington, famous for Martin Guptill's unbeaten 237.
The Black Caps begin their ODI series against the Windies next Wednesday in Whangarei.
"So I'm actually looking forward to it, it's good to be back in New Zealand," said Gayle.
"Hopefully we can get some momentum going into the first game (ODI)."
He arrived in Auckland with Black Caps legend Brendon McCullum, who was also part of the victorious Rangpur Riders team.
