'I definitely would have been a cricketer' – Olympic legend Usain Bolt makes drastic career switch

The triple Olympic champion has taken up a role with the Australian cricket team ahead of the Ashes.

Cricket Australia have bought in the big guns ahead of this year's Ashes series against England, roping in none other than Olympic sprinting legend Usain Bolt.

The recently retired Bolt, 31, has come on board with the Australian sides to launch a new gimmick for the Ashes, with players' speed between the wickets to be measured during the five-Test series.

The Jamaican native is a huge cricket fan, even having dismissed master-blaster Chris Gayle during a charity match.

"That's my claim to fame, for me it was brilliant, it was a great feeling to have done that," he said.

The triple Olympic champion also adamant that he'd have made it as a cricketer, had sprinting not got in the way.

"If I didn't pick up track and field, I definitely would've been a cricketer."

"I was pretty good going the right direction you know what I mean."
