Scott Curry and the New Zealand team returned from the Gold Coast last night.

New Zealand men's sevens captain Scott Curry was thrilled at the welcome his side received, returning home after their gold medal victory at the Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast.

After both of New Zealand's men's and women's sevens teams bought home gold, Curry and the rest of the Kiwi contingent received a rapturous reception as they returned home at Auckland International Airport last night,

Speaking to 1 NEWS, Curry said that he was thrilled with the homecoming.

"You could hear it from baggage claim," he said.

"You could hear screams, and stuff like that - it was pretty cool."

Despite their gold medal triumph, Curry also said that his team aren't resting on their laurels, preparing for the rest of what will be a huge year for the side.

"We've got Singapore in a few weeks, we're halfway through our World Series."

"(We'll) finish that off in London and Paris, and then we've got the Sevens World Cup over in San Francisco.

"Plenty more to come this year, it's exciting."
