The former financial manager of Raukura Waikato Social Services Trust has plead guilty to defrauding the entity of about $60,000.

The former financial manager of a tax-payer funded social services provider has plead guilty to defrauding the entity of about $60,000, according to the Serious Fraud Office.

Hemo Thompson, the former financial manager of Raukura Waikato Social Services Trust, was in the Hamilton District Court today to face 68 charges.

The SFO said Ms Thompson obtained funds from the trust over a four-year period from 2010 to 2014 and disguised the activity as genuine expenditure.

The payments came in the form of 68 separate deposits.

"Hemo Thompson had control over the Ruakura funds and knew the terms upon which she was allowed to deal with those funds," SFO director Julie Read said.

"She intentionally departed from those terms to conduct this activity for her own personal benefit."

Raukura Waikato Social Services Trust is in liquidation.

Thompson will next appear in the Hamilton District Court in June.
