Whangārei Boys' High School in lockdown after 'suspicious' object found on field

Whangārei Boys’ High School has been put into lockdown this afternoon after a suspicious object was located on the field.

Police say they are currently responding to the incident which happened just before midday.

The immediate area on the field has been cordoned off and the school put into lockdown in the interim as a precautionary measure.

Police are continuing to make inquiries.
