The proposal went viral online, and now Kiwi Jonathan Sammons and London Metropolitan Police officer Phil Adlem have made it official with an unforgettable wedding at London's landmark tower, The Gherkin.
Last year, Jonathan was watching the Pride Parade in London when the police marchers stopped right in front of him.
Then his boyfriend, Phil, a metropolitan policeman, got down on one knee and proposed to him.
Jonathan said "yes".
Seven Sharp was invited to share their special day, and with more than 150 guests from around the world it was a night of laughter and love.
There wasn't a dry eye in the house and then there was an unexpected moment as Phil's father, a vicar, took to the stage.
A celebrity performance followed as British soul artist Joss Stone serenaded them for their first dance as a married couple.
The wedding of Jonathan and Phil comes three years after same-sex marriages were made legal in Britain.
