Reviews are underway into the system used by a lines company in the region, which has previously been looked at by the Commerce Commission.

The Living Wage Moment are bringing on board Auckland electricity and gas distributor Vector Limited as an accredited Living Wage employer.

It's the Living Wage Movement's first corporate business to commit to paying at least $20.20 an hour to all workers.

This includes contracted cleaners.

Living Wage Convenor Annie Newman said the move was "momentous".

"The Movement has contacted many of the top NZ firms to invite them to be Living Wage and Vector is the first to embrace the concept. We hope it is just the beginning."

Vector's Group Chief Executive Simon Mackenzie said pledging to pay their workers $20.20 and above was a way to "help address inequality of living standards".

"Fairness and equity has been a big part of our approach to remuneration for a number of years."

"In addition to our own people, we’re now working with our partners and suppliers to try and ensure support for a living wage across our supply chain."
