Two students injured after classroom explosion in Auckland during experiment

Two students have been injured in a classroom explosion at a school on Auckland's North Shore this afternoon during an experiment involving a plastic pipe.

Two fire trucks were sent to Pinehurst School in Albany at 3.11pm.

Police said the students suffered minor to moderate injuries to their legs. They were taken to North Shore Hospital.

A Fire and Emergency spokesperson said the explosion was thought to have involved Perspex.
