Thunderstorms possible in some areas with a rainy front moving in tomorrow

Thunderstorms are possible in Bay of Plenty this morning while Westland is being warned to expect more rain tonight.

MetService forecasts a low risk of thunderstorms today along in parts Coromandel and Bay of Plenty as well as south into the central North Island and East Cape.

Parts of Manawatu and Taranaki also have a low risk of storms, as well as south to Wairarapa and central Hawke's Bay.

MetService has also issued a heavy rain warning from 7pm tonight for areas of Westland south of Otira, where very heavy rain earlier this week caused flooding and a bridge washout .

From tomorrow, MetService is warning that a new active front will move across the country from the west, bringing rain to many areas.
