A teenager has been taken to hospital with serioius injuries after a hit-and-run in Auckland's Mission Bay yesterday.
A 15-year-old male was walking to school on Kepa Road about 6:50am yesterday when a vehicle mounted the footpath and allegedly knocked him down, police say.
The driver of the vehicle, which also had two other passengers in it at the time, was a 21-year-old man who police say allegedly exited the vehicle and fled the scene.
The driver later handed himself in to police and has been charged with a number of driving-related charges and will appear in the Auckland District Court today.
The teenager was transported to hospital where he stayed overnight but is expected to be discharged today.
