Teen, 17, in hospital after being shot in the face in Waikato

A teenager is in hospital after being shot in the face in Waikato on Friday.

Police say the incident occurred at about 11.30pm on Sullivan Road, Horsham Downs near Ngaruawahia in which a 17-year-old male "received a gunshot wound in the face" while he was a passenger in a vehicle.

The victim was taken to Waikato Hospital where he is in a stable condition.

Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to call Hamilton Police on 07 858 6200 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
