Candlelight vigils are being planned around the country to honour English tourist Grace Millane.

A man appeared at court earlier today charged with killing Grace after her body was found in bushland near Auckland yesterday.

Auckland Sky City casino said on Facebook that it will light up the Sky Tower white "in acknowledgment of the impact the death of Grace Millane has had on so many".

A candlelight vigil will take place on Wednesday at 7.30pm in Wellington's Civic Square.

The man appeared in Auckland District Court on December 10 after Ms Millane’s body was found the day before.

In Auckland, a vigil supported by White Ribbon will take place at 6pm on Wednesday at St Patrick's Square.

A Peace Walk is also being organised for Saturday December 15, and will take place on Queen Street in Auckland at midday.

In Queenstown, a vigil is planned for 7pm tomorrow in front of The Boatshed Cafe.

On Twitter, tributes to Grace and messages to her family are being posted using the hashtag #herlightourlove.
