Seven people have been taken to hospital from a crash at two-car crash on SH2 near Ohuia Road in Wairoa.
Police and emergency services were called around 6pm and a helicopter also attended.
A St John spokesperson told 1News they sent five ambulances to the scene.
One patient was in a critical condition, another one was serious injured, four were moderate and one had minor injuries.
