Search launched for person who's failed to return from excursion in South Canterbury

A search and rescue operation has been launched for missing person in Waitaki, South Canterbury.

Police received a report at 10am today that a person had not returned several days after they were due to come back from an excursion in Hopkins Valley. 

A police spokesperson told 1 NEWS Land Search and Rescue teams had been alerted.
