He's rowed across both the Pacific and Atlantic oceans, scaled Mt Everest and he's the fastest man around the globe in a hot air balloon.
Now, 60-year-old Russian explorer Fedor Konyukhov has a new mission: rowing the Southern Ocean. And he has travelled to New Zealand to achieve it.
His nine-metre row boat is British built, with solar panels and Mr Konyukhov will give it a few sea trials next week.
From Dunedin, his route takes him to Cape Horn in Chile. After regrouping, he'll then row on to Albany in Western Australia and finally back to Dunedin.
The massive undertaking is expected to take him three years to complete.
"It doesn't matter for me if it's 100 days or 300 days, I'm not alone in the ocean," he told 1 NEWS.
"There are whales, dolphins, albatrosses, I can look into the sky, I can look to the ocean, so it's not a problem for me."
The first leg of the journey to Chile is expected to take 120 days.
