Police investigating the murder of Grace Millane are looking for a shovel they believe is related to the inquiry.

The shovel is described as an Atlas Trade Hardwood Long Handle Round Mouth Shovel.

Police would like to hear from anyone who may have found this item anytime after Monday 3 December.

At this point police say they don't know where the shovel is.

They say it could be anywhere between the Scenic Drive and central Auckland areas.

Grace's body was found in a bush area on Scenic Drive, in the Waitakere Ranges, following an extensive search on Sunday.

A 26-year-old man charged with the murder of the 22-year-old appeared in the Auckland District Court yesterday where he was given interim name suppression.

Anyone with information about the investigation or the shovel is urged to call police on 0800 676 255.
