Police attend sudden death at popular beach on Auckland's North Shore

Police are at the scene of a sudden death at a popular beach on Auckland's North Shore this afternoon.

Police told 1 NEWS they were called to Takapuna Beach around 12.40pm.

St John say they were called to a "water incident" at Takapuna and sent one ambulance to the scene.

Circumstances surrounding what police labelled a sudden death are still being investigated.
