The rider has died following a motorcycle crash in Wellington on Saturday afternoon.
The incident on River Road, in Upper Hutt, occurred at about 1.10pm, police say.
Diversions remain in place while the serious crash unit examine the scene.
Police have urged motorists to avoid the area if possible.
It comes after a motorcyclist died in a crash in the Coromandel on Friday night.
