Person dies following crash between car and pedestrian in Hawke's Bay

One person has died following a crash between a car and pedestrian in Omahu in the Hawke's Bay this morning.

The incident occurred on Taihape Road, near the intersection of Taihape and Korokipo Road, at 2am, police said.

The road was closed but has since been reopened.

Inquiries into the circumstances of the crash are now underway.
