Person dies after crashing into tree in Northland

A person has died after crashing their vehicle into a tree at Ōkaihau near the Bay of Islands in Northland.

In a statement, police said they were called to the collision on Imms Road about 8.25pm on Monday.

The driver died at the scene.

No other vehicles were involved.

Police inquiries into the crash are underway to determine the circumstances of the crash.
