Body of man recovered after boat carrying three people capsizes in Far North

One person is dead after a boat carrying three people capsized in the Far North today.

Police say they were called around 12.10pm to reports a boat with three people on board had capsized while crossing over the bar in the Hokianga Harbour.

The body of a man has since been recovered and police are notifying his next of kin.

Two others have been rescued by a passing boat and are in a moderate condition.

Police inquiries into this incident are ongoing.
