One person dead following house fire in Mosgiel

One person has died following a house fire in Mosgiel this morning.

Police said the deceased is believed to be an elderly man.

Emergency services were called out after smoke was reported coming from the roof of the house on Braemar St at around 8:40am.

A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesperson told 1 NEWS there were no other people reported in the house and three trucks had been sent to extinguish the blaze.

One ambulance also attended the incident.
