One person dead, another badly hurt in Canterbury crash involving truck and car

Police say one person has died after a crash between a car and a truck in Waimakariri, Canterbury.

Another person was seriously injured in the crash which happened at the intersection of Woodstock Road and Harmans Gorge Road

Police were called to the scene at 11:40am.

Police expect the road to be closed for sometime with diversions in place.

Two ambulances and a helicopter were also at the scene.

The Serious Crash Unit has been advised and motorists are asked to avoid the area.
