One person dead after serious crash near Piarere, Waikato

One person has died following a crash between a truck and a van last night on State Highway One in the Waikato region.

Police say the crash occurred around 11.50pm near Piarere. 

The road was closed while one of the vehicles was being recovered but it has since reopened.

The Serious Crash Unit attended the scene.
