Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern says if there's a no-deal Brexit New Zealand businesses could be harmed.
Ms Ardern is in London where she'll meet with her British counterpart Theresa May, whose Brexit deal was rejected by the House of Commons last week.
Speaking to 1 NEWS Europe Correspondent Joy Reid today, Ms Ardern said, "there is no question that a (Brexit) no-deal situation would be very damaging and very difficult" for New Zealand.
She said the Brexit situation is out of New Zealand's hands but she'll, "be using this opportunity to highlight the interests of New Zealand businesses and New Zealand exporters".
Ms Ardern will be meeting with Theresa May tomorrow.
If Britain fails to get an agreement with the European Union before its scheduled leaving date on March 29, then its trade deals around the world will end at that point. The UK would then be subject to World Trade Organisation rules, causing uncertainty for all its trading partners, including New Zealand.
Ms Ardern said she doesn't think Brexit will be a distraction to the meeting with Mrs May as she says they have a "very special" relationship.
After her meeting with Mrs May the Prime Minister will be heading to Davos, Switzerland, for the World Economic Forum.
