More than $5000 raised to help wife, three kids of former Gloriavale man who died in motorbike crash

January 7, 2019

A Givealittle page has been started to help the family of a former Gloriavale member who was killed in a motorbike crash in Milford yesterday.

Jeremy Max, 21, died in a motorbike accident near the farm where he lived and worked yesterday.

According to a Givealittle page setup to help his family , his wife Zoe, whom he met when they both lived in the West Coast religious community of Gloriavale, was by his side when he died.

The couple left Gloriavale in 2016 with their young son to find a better life in South Canterbury.

Following this the couple went on to have two more children, the latest of which was a son who was born just 17-weeks-ago.

The Givealittle page states that due to the strict rules in place at Gloriavale the couple are cut off from their family, many of whom still reside their.

The goal of the fundraising campaign states it's to "enable Zoe to have financial freedom to bring up her beautiful children."

"Zoe’s friends want to ask you to contribute to the immediate costs of a funeral and looking ahead to relieve any financial burden while Zoe brings up her children on her own. It would be amazing to help Zoe into her own house," the page reads.

As of 6.30pm today more than $5,500 had been donated.
