Men granted bail after appearing in Hastings court in connection to homicide investigation

A man died this morning, after being found at a Bridge Pa home with critical injuries last night.

Two men have been granted bail on assault charges in connection to a homicide investigation in Hastings.

A 61-year-old and 29-year-old man appeared before a Justice of the Peace in the Hastings District Court this afternoon.

Both men have been granted interim name suppression.

The older man an has been charged with assault with intent to injure and the 29-year-old has been charged with common assault.

The pair have been ordered not to contact each other as part of their bail conditions.

Hawke’s Bay Police found a man with critical injuries on Sunday night outside an address on Maraekakaho Road in the suburb of Bridge Pa.

He was taken to Hawke’s Bay hospital before being transferred to Wellington where he would die from his injuries.

They will reappear in the Hastings District Court later this month.
