Man dies after crashing into fence in Southland

One person died when their vehicle drove into a fence in Southland.

A man has been found dead after a car crash in Southland overnight.

Police were called to the scene after the vehicle collided with a fence before leaving the road on Tuatapere Orepuki Highway (SH99), south of Jenkins Road, in Tuatapere.

At this stage, it's believed the incident took place some time after midnight.

The Serious Crash Unit is investigating.
