Head-on crash leaves two trapped in vehicles, causes closure of SH 1 in Manawatu

A head-on crash that left two people trapped in vehicles has caused State Highway 1 to be closed south of Mangaweka in Manawatu.

Fire and Emergency NZ were called to the scene of the two-car crash at 4.45pm.

Two people had to be extricated from the vehicles while three others are not believed to be seriously injured.

NZTA has tweeted that the road is closed north of the intersection with Soldiers Road.
