First death in holiday road toll, as person dies after single-vehicle crash in Blenheim

One person has died following a single-vehicle crash in Blenheim this evening.

The crash occurred on John Street about 8.40pm.

The road is closed and the Serious Crash Unit has been notified.

This is the first fatality recorded on the roads since the holiday road toll began.

The official holiday period began at 4pm on Christmas Eve and ends at 6am on Friday January 3 2020.
