Two helicopters and three crews are fighting a scrub fire in a remote valley near the Canterbury town of Hanmer Springs this afternoon.
Emergency services were notified of the fire, which started as a controlled burn-off before spreading, just after 3pm.
The fire is understood to be confined to gorse at this stage, though two additional firefighting helicopters are due to arrive later on the scene.
