Emergency services attended a Christchurch charity boxing event last night after competitor Kain Parsons suffered a "medical event" while participating.
A police spokesperson told 1 NEWS police attended an event at Horncastle Arena shortly after 11pm last night where a person participating in a charity boxing event has suffered a medical event.
Mr Parsons was taken to hospital by ambulance in a critical condition.
One person wrote on social media the event went well besides the incident.
"Went to Fight for Christchurch Boxing match tonight and watched some good matches and one very unfortunate match where a man went down and did not get up," they said.
